
Three of our clients have won Silver and Gold awards in three categories at the 2008 Alabama Retail Association Retailers of the Year Awards.

BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Alabama Retail Association (ARA) in cooperation with the University of Alabama at Birmingham today recognized 12 outstanding Alabama retailers as “Retailers of the Year.” The presentations were made at The Club in Birmingham during UAB’s 2008 Retail Day Luncheon. This marked the ninth presentation of the Retailer of the Year Awards since 1999.
Homer G. Brown, president and general manager of BumperNets Inc. (bumpernets.com), a table tennis and game table sports store in Hoover, received the Silver Award in the “Annual Sales Less than $1 Million” category. Brown’s 19-year-old executive assistant, Joseph Cole, nominated his boss for this prestigious award.
Janet Holcomb, owner of The Fitting Touch, a Vestavia Hills specialty lingerie store dedicated to fitting women with the proper bra size, received the Silver Award in the “Annual Sales $1 Million to $5 Million” category. Karen Odle, executive director of the Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce nominated Holcomb for this prestigious award.
Mark Whitlock, president of Mark’s Outdoor Sports (www.marksoutdoors.com) in Vestavia Hills, an Alabama Retail Association member since 1995, received the Gold Award in the “Annual Sales $5 Million to $20 Million” category. Karen Odle, executive director of the Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Ken Miller a marketing instructor at the UAB School of Business, nominated Whitlock for the award. Whitlock also received letters of recommendation from about a dozen organizations and individuals, including Gov. Bob Riley.
